About cursive lettering
Cursive is defined by the join: the exit stroke of one letter runs into the entry stroke of the next, so the word is drawn in one movement rather than assembled from separate shapes. That is why cursive faces look wrong when you letter-space them, and why capitals in a cursive face are usually far more decorated than the lowercase they lead into. The faces below run from formal copperplate to a looser modern hand.
